Loud Dave obviously flaunting the rules and ignoring the sign.

Loud Dave and me.

Festivus at the Chrome Horse.

Jaymz and Lehner.

Rob Brooks with the traditional Festivus Pole.

Sunday night 12/26/2004

Ryan Nelson and Daryl Burgner (a couple of my old KRNA co-workers) back in town for one night only.  Jay Parsons made the trip from CR.  One Eyed Jake's was open. Hoo-boy....

The DJ Formerly Known As Daryl Bryant.

My camera is faster than Ryan's!  (Okay, his camera had actually already snapped the pic. And it's three times as small as mine.  But it's MY web site, dammit!)

Jay.

Me.

Ryan, Daryl (looking disinterested as hell), and me.

Ryan, Daryl and me.  (Wide-screen.)

The Pentacrest.

The Old Capitol.

(Jake's always had the best view. Still does.)

The Dolphins beat the Browns 10-7...IN HD!!!
(You want progress? Back in our day, we couldn't IMAGINE Jake's with HD flat-screens.)

Choose a caption:

#1 You know, the clientele of the Airliner ain't what it used to be...

#2: I'd heard Brad Lohaus was down on his luck, but DAMN!

Okay, so obviously the Airliner is...undergoing changes.  So it's on to my cousin Lew's joint:  The College Street Billiard Club!

Daryl and Jay.

Did somebody say...Jager Bomb...?

Now not only is that crude, but it's also an obscure reference to something that almost got us banned from Jake's ten years ago.  (We've since become very good friends with the owner, Mike Porter.)

Jay and Ryan on the Ped Mall.

Man, 2am Monday morning on the Ped Mall is a lot less busy than 2am other mornings...

Tuesday night 12/28/2004

Jaymz organized a little Iowa State viewing party for the Independence Bowl at Buffalo Wild Wings in Cedar Rapids. (As a former University of Iowa student and current fan, this was a tough one for me.  But I gutted it out.)

As president of the Cedar Rapids Bears Club, Lehner was able to combine his love for the Bears with college football with this Rex Grossman Florida Gators jersey.

Jaymz and Iowa State's own Jason Rogers.

Nice glasses for some, crappy keg party-style cups for others!

And Lehner used his to put his cigarette out.

A closer view.

Lehner welcomes Crazy Tommy to the proceedings.

(Real name: Tom Birchenbrighter.)

Meet Stan Pauls!  And me.  But only one of us gets his own Mediacom commercial.  (Okay, I horn in on an occasional PSA, but Stan gets 30 seconds of SOLO TIME!)

Hawkeye basketball on the top left (a win over Air Force), Iowa State football on the big screen (a win over Miami University).

Crazy Tommy doodles a ribbon on his bill.

Someone else writes a slur against him on a napkin.

Tuesday night 1/4/2005

A big snowstorm the night of the Oklahoma/USC Orange Bowl.  These are shots from the Safety Village near Grant Wood Elementary School (and my house) in Iowa City.  (I took them before it got really bad, since I'm a wuss.)

Elmer.

(He's a cat.)

Channel 9 used my pix on the air and on their web site!

But then they also used Dave Zahn's picture, so it really couldn't be all that special.
This is where I point out that I like Dave, and he was supposed to be on my show before I got fired.   He was the only memeber of the Cedar Rapids City Council who thought it was funny when I'd show up at their monthly night-time meetings and make stupid comments just to amuse my friends who were taping them for Mediacom. So VOTE FOR DAVE ZAHN IN...WHATEVER YEAR HE'S RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION!!!
